Flintlock Pistols A FINE SIGNED AMERICAN-MADE EARLY FEDERAL PERIOD FLINTLOCK NEW ENGLAND "KENTUCKY" PISTOL, ca. 1790s-1810:In overall very good untouched original flintlock condition. The round, 8", smoothbore, 69 caliber, pin-fastened, iron, barrel with a blade type fore-sight and a smooth chocolate brown age patina with a fine touch-hole. Molded and carved American Black walnut full stock of typical Federal design, having a "cane-handle" type grip with a pronounced bulbous pommel and simple carving around lock mortise.
American sheet brass furniture: a single barrel-form ramrod pipe, a simple arrow head finial trigger-guard and a screw-fastened butt-cap with a rear finial. The "McDermott" signed lock with a flat lockplate, a gooseneck hammer, a bridle-less powder pan and a frizzen spring with arrowhead finial: missing mainspring. Lightly engraved borders and a cursive script "McDermott" maker's signature.In overall very good original flintlock condition.
The barrel with smooth brown surfaces with some light patches of discoloration and pitting. The lock with a matching smooth age patina, some minor discoloration/wear and all of its original components. The stock with sharp contours, 80% original finish, some minor handling marks and abrasions.
Fine hardware with a nicely toned and untouched mustard patina. A very nice example of a Federal Period/Early War of 1812 New England "Kentucky" flintlock pistol. Wood ramrod with brass tip.

Excellent stocks with 95% original varnish, sharp contours and several minor handling marks: a very tight hairline on the underside of one grip and some very light wear.
The locks with choice surfaces having much of their case colors and all their original components.
