The story is about some sort of dystopian society where everything is controlled by some sort of central government. The main part of the story I remember is that the character (a boy) requests a construction set from the people who control the supply of goods but is rejected. The people are controlled by a periodic injection which is administered by placing your arm into a machine.
He bypasses this by placing cotton wool or an elastoplast or a bandage over his veins to block the injection. This is further described in the book when he returns home and squeezes the chemical out, against a sink or bath. This is all I remember but it has always bugged me.

2 The injection machine and the method of bypassing it, plus the approval or rejection of requests for goods by a central government (a computer) sounds like "This Perfect Day" by Ira Levin. It was published in 1970. Levin also wrote "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Stepford Wives".

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
