Blood clots in the lung are Pulmonary Embolisms. I would guess he's on more than just coumadin (Warfarin), perhaps Heparin shots. PE is the 3rd most common cause of death in the US.

Cancer is a long and painful way to go. He may be hoping for a quicker way out. He's obviously under a doctor's treatment so I don't know why you would be asking the general public for medical advice but if he wants to die, that is a consideration you should discuss with him.

Wow, this would be something that is best discussed with your physician, I would think. It's a very personal decision to be made.

While this is a topic of discussion with doctor, not strangers, this stranger would suggest that cancer AND blood clots is quite the dangerous combination, such that the person you speak of seems to have given up trying to survive when so much is working to have him die.

Having cancer, and the chemotherapy drugs to treat it can cause the blood to clot unnecessarily more easily, which can lead to stroke, heart attack or pulmonary embolism, among other things. This is something he's going to have to discuss with his doctor. Then, maybe get a second opinion to reinforce the first.
