I take a Magnesium supplement daily! Yes, (or so I think) they've helped. I've had migraines from adolescence, and have some sleeping issues. So do I think Mag cures migraines?

No Way. But, it does seem to make the cycle of having them less frequent. When I get into a pattern, I have to break it with meds..but I do take the Mag daily & I think it helps.

I like this site because it gives proper dose dependeant on your age & tells of possible drug interactions: wellfx.com/InfoBase/Magnesium.html Personally, I think every woman above the age of 30 should take magnesium for their bone health, whether they suffer from migraines or not. As for the sleeplessness...NOPE it hasn't helped me here. And this can be a problem, since w/out proper sleep you set yourself up for a migraine pattern to hit.

I've tried Melatonin (3mgs), and it does cause you to be drowsy..if you have trouble falling to sleep it might work...My trouble is waking up after an hour or two of sleep & it does nothing (as far as I'm concerned) for that! I take magnesium daily I learned of the use of magnesium for migraines several years ago. I have been taking it regularly for about two years. I have seen a decrease in the occurance of migraines (I was getting at least one a month, I have only had three in the last two years).

You should take 1,000 milligrams daily and it needs to be taken consistently. You should always check with your doctor to see if any supplement you want to take is contraindicated with others medicines you are taking. Sources: personal experience .

1 My neurologist told me about magnesium. I have been taking it for a few months now. So far I have not seen any changes in intensity or regularity of my migraines.

I also have insomnia. My internest prescribed ambien cr. Ambien gives me exactly 8 hours of sleep. It also gives you amnesia, that can be a little weird.
