In case you didn't notice, the article is nothing more than condemnation of this website. This website is not spam. It generates good, high quality pages with relevant links and helpful information.

Even if pages are linked to from peoples' blogs, that doesn't automatically make these things done for the sole purpose of illuding google. In fact, I believe that a "dry link" site linking to your site actually becomes detrimental. Pride in your work is not a sin.

Having seen this article, I happen to respect Mr. Calacanis more for enduring this crap. Since we're on the subject, let's examine this blog's verisimilitude:It charges for ebooks on the blog subject (first sign of a conversion funnel: a product)It has TONS of ads, most dishonestly disguised as "recommended links" or parts of the text. The site swears an awful lot- including calling Calacanis a "f***ing idiot" in one of its many Calacanis-related posts.

After buying the book (yes, I know, but I just NEEDED to see what this guy actually said, I read it and found some interesting details:It condones link farming etc. And yet the blog by the same person hates Calacanis for doing so (despite not having firm evidence)The book describes a particularly popular practice of generating phony text describing a particular subject, posting it to your website, and plastering it with ads. The author claims he has made "thousands of dollars" this way.By doing this, he is essentially creating a topic page like on Mahalo, only devoid of all value. This makes Mahalo a direct competitor to his pages.

Discrediting our hard work is thus to his advantage. The domain is only given an 81% SEO rating by Domain Tools. That seems awfully low for a self-proclaimed "SEO Expert".

This is my favorite: in a post on the website threadwatch.Org, he said "It seems to me that one could just about launch a network and virtually guarantee its success banking on link popularity from stupid evangelical white hat bloggers linking at it. All you have to do is piss one of them off. The ditto heads will follow along."

Interesting... as that seems to be exactly what he did. Well, the guy's already gotten my $30 for it. He owns more than a thousand domains.

How can he pay any attention to any of them? As you should see by now, this is just a jerk that thinks he can make a buck by insulting our fine site, just as he has in the past. See my sources for a TON of info.

There may be some truths that Mahalo has quite a number of low quality stubs indexed in Google that boosted Mahalo's PageRank. I think Mahalo is doing something about it. See @jasoncalacanis 's answer in this mahalo.com/answers/mahalo-answers-techni... question.

Hopefully Mahalo can then clear its name. Mahaloian's VMs and Page Managers may help by making better quality pages and discarding bad ones.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
