Major left leg swelling from the inside out,no injury,no bite,no (DVT). It swells every time I sit down? I have been to the Dr,to a VA Hospital for a week due to infection and was put on a antibiotic drip the swelling stayed down in the hospital if I would lay on my back with the leg up.
Now the leg continues to swell. No one has yet solved the problem? I am taking Furosemide that doesn't seem to help much other than the exercise from running to the bathroom.
Would a prescription drug cause this? I suspect the drug Finasteride that I have been taking. When I sit with my leg down it starts to swell immediately.
I feel some pain in my buttock and hip if I sit too long. When I lay down the swelling goes down a bit only to flare up when I sit again. Why would one leg swell twice as large and not the other?
The swelling decreases at night during sleep when I use a C-Pap machine. The next step the health care providers are trying is the elastic sock treatment but the leg already swells above the area where the sock goes. Regular sock's already cut off circulation at the elastic.

I had the opposite problem of my left leg swelling when I stood up and walked on it. But you seem to clearly have an infection that your body is trying to fight, and there are some clues in the reverals of symptoms. When you walk, you get more blood pumping thru the leg, which aids in healing and decreases swelling.
When you're on a bi-pap, your body gets more than normal oxygen, tho lying down, and again, your body has help in blood circulation. So the key is getting and keeping blood circulation in that leg. That "circulation-sock" is an idea, but might be limited.
You seem to have a leg that needs active help in maintaining circulation thru it, which is both weird and a danged nuisance. The doctors' so-far inability to diagnose might be from a combination of factors: infection and vein/artery faults. Have the doctors check out the circulation hardware in your leg as well.
One hopes you aren't angling for an aneurysm there.
2 Edema is a problem with many disorders and some medications. Your physician should know if it is a problem or not. But I have to deal with it - on a lesser degree.

3 Seems you may want to keep asking for more attention for your leg which seems to be swelling a lot. I am not a medical person but there are other issues to consider. The CPAP itself doesn't alleviate it, I don't think, it is the lying down that helps.
Some issues could come from the infection or at least give a clue to what is going on. Don't give up - there are some good folks at the VA.

4 Celiac can cause swelling/ prostrate problems...Celiac people can't have dairy or gluten (oats/barley/rye/wheat)... blood tests and biopsies don't work half of the time to diagnose it. LDN (low dose naltrexone) helps block it but the celiac diet, vitamins/good oils are also needed. I take Osteoprocare instead of dairy and organic brown rice instead of gluten.

5 You also might want to check with a cardiologist. Heart problems can result in leg swelling, even on one side.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
