He is peeing and has been neutered. He is a rescue cat so is age is estimated at about four years old. I have never had any problems with him and about four weeks ago he started peeing in my leather chair.

It definitely sounds like a UTI, I am glad you are taking him to the vet, I lost a cat 25 years ago to a UTI, he was totally blocked, at the time the surgery was $900.00 and I was soooooo broke, the vet said the best thing I could do was put him to sleep. I've learned alot about UTI and the connection to food, I only feed Hills Science Diet now, and none of my cats since then have ever had a UTI.

As trekincat says he most likely has a UTI --- this is usually caused by diet --- what type of food does he eat --- it becomes an emergency if he can't urinate but so long as he is still going you can wait to take him to the vet -- just do it as soon as possible .
