Message when closing Outlook Express 6 offering to "compact" messages! From time to time, I get a message when closing Outlook Express 6 as follows: To free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages. This may take up to a few minutes.

OK CancelI would like to keep this message from appearing. Most of the time in the past it was not present. Can anyone help.Thanks.

There's a good reason why you haven't seen it before! Consider how email arrive. You might get a half dozen a day.

Some you read, some you immediately delete, some you keep for a while and then later delete. But your email program keeps them (even after you delete them) in case you need to recover and re-read a message. So over time, your email box gets like patchwork; some messages are 'live', some have been deleted, but still take up space, and some are deleted for good.

So Outlook keeps track of that, and (politely) akss you from time to time if you want to clean up your mailbox. It won't actually get rid of any messages you want; it will just tidy up behind the scenes and use a bit less of your hard drive space. And it won't ask you questions again, until it gets patchworked again.

Basically, this is a good and polite thing that Outlook Express is asking you, and you should answer *yes* and let it proceed.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
