Mini DVD camcorder or DVD Camcorder? Why? Best one to buy for under 350 dollars?

This is what I would do I would get a camera with the minidv instead of the dvd. These are the reasons The minidv will be a higher initial resolution than the dvd because the dvd is allready heavily compressed to its dvd format To edit with the dvd will mean transcoding it to a format that can be used by the editing program and that can add noise and other artifacts into your picture and sometimes it is not easy to accomplish this With mini dv you can use the firewire to transfer digitize (copy onto the computer) very easily. Whatever camcorder you get make sure it has a good optical zoom.

I have a small sony that I basically use for digitizing mini dv and my partner has a canon and uses it to record home videos so based on his recommendation I would reccomend in your price range the canon ZR830 or the ZR850 Also you said you wanted to do some editing. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
