Getting Started on HubPages: Step #1 - Create Great Content.
If you receive an email stating that your Hub has been spotted as having duplicate content, it means that your Hub contains text that also appears on another site or Hub, or is substantially similar or closely paraphrased from another work, or works. Duplicate content is not permitted on HubPages. In order for your Hub to be republished, you will need to ensure that its content is original.
Text that appears in whole or large part on another site. Even if you wrote the text or retain the copyright, you may not republish it on HubPages. When content is present on multiple sites, search engines devalue the content that has a later publication date.
Thus, if you have already published content on another site and republish it on HubPages, your Hub and possibly the entire site will be penalized by search engines. Text that already appears in whole or large part on HubPages. Copying or paraphrasing another's Hub or one of your own, is not permitted on HubPages.
Truly original content is always the best. Text copied from multiple sources. Cutting and pasting content, even from a variety of sites is prohibited.
Hubs need to be written in your own words, just like academic works. Please note that the issue of duplicate content is completely separate from issues of plagiarism or copyright. All that it means is that we found text very similar to what is contained in this Hub elsewhere on the Web.
