1 Yeah...get the lawyer. You need one. Not that this is a complete answer to the problem, but did he sign the birth certificate?
Does the baby have his last name? If you go to court, even if he signed the birth certificate, his attorney will probably challenge everything and request a DNA test. (it's almost a given in NC) I have a feeling since he told you he couldn't father a child, then he will scream that it's not his baby.Be prepared for that argument.
What you need to do, though, is to fight for child support and work out visitation rights. I'm not sure how they figure child support when someone is on SSI; however, I suggest you get a support order on file, asap.Is he permanently disabled, or is this something long term, but not permanent.
2 SSI is not very much, nor is SSD. Can't get blood out of a turnip. CAK is right.
3 Unfortunately, lawyers cost money, and it's clear that the asker doesn't have any. You need to track down somebody willing to do pro-bono work. Call 866-LEGL-AID, which is run by the Virginia bar to help connect lawyers to clients.
I'm afraid this is not going to be easy. Courts aren't very good at getting at small amounts of money like this. (And I know it's not small to you.) It takes many hours of legal work that cost more than the amount you're trying to get.
Some lawyers will help for free, but even court costs can add up. And there are a lot more people who need help than there are lawyers to help them. When people get angry about the state of justice in America, this is what they mean: it's hard for the poor to get justice.
You recognize that you did a stupid thing, but the child should not be punished for it. I'm very sorry for your situation, and I hope it works out somehow.
4 Contact the Social Security.......maybe have a friend assist: If he is on disability. Then your child is entitled to a small check: Usually, under 100 dollars per month. Or apply on line: Blessings...Annlee .
My baby is a week old today, and I am 18 years old and I still live with my parents. I was dating this guy who was cripped and said he could not have kids, dumb me, so here I am now. But my situation is he receives a SSI check since he was 16 years old and now he is 21, can my baby receive any portion of that?
Social Services said no and I've tired for benefits thru welfare but only recieve a small amount thru TANF. I do live in Va the commonwealth state. He don't pay child support, he hasn't bought the first diaper or even tried to help out with her.
We are not together anymore. And he threatens to take her away from me tho he don't want to buy her anything. Please somebody I could use some help and only serious people to answer please.
I'm confused and lost on what to do. Should we just get a lawyer and go from there? He is also in trouble by the law too!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
