Of course it is, I've been in exactly the same situation. When someone disrespects you and physically lays their hands on you it breaks a trust barrier for me, and I find it hard to turn back after that. A friend kept trying to get back in touch with me after he fought me and I can't be assed with people like that in my life, you shouldn't either :).
Don't create any friction in your existing smooth relations. As far as possible try to understand your enemy's good stand point, adjust with his superior qualities, if any, and try to cooperate with like-minded people.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
