My brother is having his 33rd birthday in 5 days. What are some "thrifty" ideas I can use to celebrate that are also funny? :)?

Decorate with kid's (Sesame Street, Winni the Pooh) streamers, paper plates, tablecloth etc. - have a scavenger hunt - search for picture of a playground, a lollipop, miniature car, a yo yo.... - play musical chairs with songs from his generation. - blow bubbles. - Make cupcakes and let everyone decorate their own with colored sprinkles, chocolate syrup, whipped cream etc. - find small toys, put them in balloons and then blow them up.

Give one to everyone when they leave. * all of these things you can get at the Dollar Store Have Fun!

For the Adventure Seeker My friend is spending her 30th jumping out of an airplane. That’s right, for those who have no fear and still want to feel an adrenaline rush, skydiving is an excellent means for forgetting that you are old. Last year, the nation watched as President Bush, Sr.

Jumped out of a plane on his 80th birthday. For the Mourner For those who just want to mourn the day, dress in black and prepare like you are going to your funeral. I know a woman whose husband threw her a wake for her 30th birthday.

He even had a pastor come and do the eulogy. Sit down and write your own eulogy, it might make you realize that you have accomplished more than you thought. For Those Who Wish to Escape The great thing about living in America is that there is a spa on every corner.

Make an appointment to spend the day away from reality while improving those 30 year-old looks. Schedule a massage, facial, pedicure, manicure or even a haircut, anything that lets you relax and feel luxurious at the same time. For the Sentimentalist Sit down and look through your baby book, then make a scrapbook of your life.

Look back over your 30 years and relive the memories of time spent with family, friends and other people who drifted into your life. Then make a list of the things that happened to you and the people you knew or know that mean the world to you. I am positive that it will make turning 30 look a lot better.

For the Coffee Lover Spend the day at a coffee house sipping your true Love. Relax and watch the different generations of people come in and out. Remember what you were like at that age or fantasize what you will be like when older.

There is actually a set of four novellas out called Fresh Brewed Love based on romances that occur in coffee houses. Curl up in a book and read the day away.

You could do a 33 minute activity themed party. 1. A 33 minute dance 2.

A 33 yard race 3. Invite 33 people and do a pot-luck of goodies so there would be a 33 item buffet 4. Give him a big birthday card with happy birthday written in 33 languages Maybe a couple more things and you'll have a fun filled evening. It's good that you are looking for creative and thrifty ways to have a good time.

Why don't you just prepare 33 sticks of barbeque, potluck style. Enjoy the meal together with some friends . It will be within your budget?

Your brother will appreciate your gesture.

33 pennies and even better 33 from the year of his birth or 33 nickels etc! Forgot the $33 in one dollar coins :-) Too expensive!

Get a keg of beer (preferably a cheap US macro brew), some cups, some brats and bam, bob's your uncle, happy 33rd.

Make a "33 Sucks" bouquet. Go to Dollar Tree and buy a piece of block styrofoam and a couple bags of lollipops. Buy a baseball cap and put the styrofoam block inside it and stick into the styrofoam "33" lollipops.

Print out a creative 33 SUCKS sign on your computer. You can also put the bouquet in a creative decorated box. Decorate the box with pix of your brother as a baby and on up to 33!

Hummm taps foot, well you could take him to a strip club and give hime 33 dollars, (if you have it) ....(dont know how old you are) I don't know about guys baking things for guys (even family seems a little odd to me) but you could bake him a cake as well (Betty crocker FTW). Buy him a wallet (a good wallet is always hard to get! ) Don't forget about his birthday punches of course.

Go by a thrift store and see what they have (you can usually find something cheap and fun there) Maybe buy him some movies that he likes? Gift card for $10 to a resturant/Movie theater/Blockbuster I would check ebay (even though it would be cutting it close).

1. Get a bunch of his friends together and set them up at an appointed play field or park at an appointed time. 2.

Tell them all to wear something similar/ridiculous, like tube socks or weird hats. 3. Get a kickball.4.

Get some tiki torches. 5. Have his friends all prepare the tiki torches around the field and have them be ready and prepared to take their bases.6.

Tell your brother that your taking him out for sushi for his b.day.. nothing fancy.(wait until sundown) 7. When he gets in the car, blindfold him.8. When you pull up at the kickball field, give the signal for all to take their places.9.

Lead him to the kickball mound.10. Take off his blindfold. Give him about 4 seconds, and then the pitcher sends him the ball.

11. Make it a potluck so everyone who doesn't want to play can be getting the food ready at a nearby house. I did this for an ex of mine once and he NEVER stopped talking about the thrill of it all.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
