My daughter asked me this one, why do all baseball caps have that odd, seemingly redundant button at the top?

It wasn't always redundant This is sort of thin, and I'm having trouble finding reputable references to back me up. However, I believe the button was originally used to seal off the area where the fabric panels came together, to make a neat finish. Supposedly a famous baseball player would stick his gum up there, and although nobody does that anymore, it became part of the style of the cap, which never changed.

This is probably a good example of a clothing style that isn't subject to the usual shifting patterns - it's remained relatively static since the "Brooklyn style" cap (with the button) was introduced.

teampacks.com/ProFlex_Wool_Cap_p/proflex... is there to hide where all of the points come together on the top of the hat. The button is there as a decoration to finish the design off and make it look neater than just four seams running together. Not all hats have these.

Htm.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
