My daughter is 5 months old and weighs 18lbs and when I give her more than 6oz of milk in a feeding she spits up alot. Right now she gets about 27oz a day,but if you calculate her weight and what she should be getting per pound that would be 45oz. What can I do?
I'm comparing her to the weight of my son when he was her age and to me she is under weight, but my pediatrician say's that she is gaining weight beautifully. I also give her 1 or 2 jars of baby food a day. Asked by Teisha 40 months ago Similar questions: daughter months weighs 18lbs give 6oz milk feeding spits alot Family.

She's fine! I'm not a doctor, but I don't see a problem as long as she is gaining weight, she is thriving. All children are different and obviously won't gain weight at exactly the same rate.As far as the spitting up, my son is 3 months and spits up frequently as well.
My pediatrician explained that it is reflux (look it up if you're unfamiliar) and that babies outgrow this. It sounds like you're doing a wonderful job. Keep up the good work.

1 18 pounds at 5 months?! Holy crap! My daughter only weighed 17 pounds when she was a year old.
Every baby is different, yours certainly doesn't sound undersized at all. Let her decide when she's full.My son, who was significantly bigger than my daughter, never drank more than 6 oz per bottle, even when he was past his first birthday. Burp her at least halfway through the bottle, and don't push more on her once she decides she's finished.
As long as she's gaining weight at HER pace, she's doing fine. Also, if you think she needs more formula, cut back on the baby food. Two jars for a 5 month old seems like a lot.
She needs the nutrition from the formula more than the baby food. Just my opinion--if you still have concerns, you should talk to the pediatrician again.

2 Either it is a typo or she is pulling our collective leg. No pediatrician would find an 18 lb 5 month old baby healthy .

Avvoo_SUCHawitch! Said: 3 maybe a 15 month old? Or 8 pounds?
Because the way its written, the baby is way too heavy for her age, even if she's "tall". pediatrics.about.com/library/growth_char... clarify. This user has been banned from Askville.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
