She could have a urinary tract infection, or some other infection, or some type of allergy or parasites or... in other words, you know she is uncomfortable at best, and that she may be suffering. Please take her to the vet, tomorrow, and get a diagnosis and treatment. I hope your dog feels better soon!

I will look for the Benedryl. I know that I can give her a 81 mg aspirin, as well, if I can't find any in the medicine cabinet. Thank you for your response!

Actually, if you are sure she can have an 81 mg aspirin, you can give her both: aspirin for comfort/pain, and Benadryl for itching/inflammation/sedation. Please post when you get a chance, and let us know what the vet says, OK? Kat .

She will be miserable, if she does have a UTI. But if she has a blockage, that would be an emergency that would require a trip to the emergency vet. Kat .

Took her to the vet today and she has vaginitis. Live in the midwest and weather has been hot, muggy and wet grass. Also, vet mentioned that the beef in our dogfood these days comes from cows that have had so many hormones that it doesn't help the situation.

You know, I didn't even consider that dogs could get vaginitis. But I presume the vet was able to give you medication to treat it, and get her feeling better? I hope she is already feeling much better than she did last night!

As to the dog food, that is actually an easy fix: buy dog food with only organic ingredients, and she won't get dosed with hormones (or antibiotics, or pesticides. ) You may have to go to an independent pet store to get dog food that has only organic ingredients, but it is well worth the extra money. And as an added bonus, high-quality organic dog food has no fillers, like beet pulp or corn, so no fillers in means less waste out, if you get my drift.

Yes, the vet gave her an antibiotic and she's had 2 doses already. She's really good about taking it, just put it in her food (dry food) and she eats it up with the food! She's on a really good dog food that's made here locally (Fromm family) but I'm not sure if it's organic or not.
