My spayed female dog is showing signs of being in heat(swollen vulva and nipples). Would this be an error of the vet? Should I insist that they cover all costs if my dog has to be opened up again?

Or is this something common that happens? Asked by pllucas 39 months ago Similar questions: spayed female dog showing signs heat swollen vulva nipples error vet Pets.

Rather be safe than sorry Althrough it is a dog question ,let me tell you about Callie's spaying , we took her and her brother in for neutering and spaying, the operations went fine or so we thought until the day after I was noticing a bump under the skin while I was scratching her belly and it felt like a suture and I started to have a bad feeling about this and I took Callie to my cousin and insisted that we take Callie back to the vet first thing in morning which we did and the vet examined Callie and said that there was suture working itself loose and of course Callie went under the knife second time , but Callie is still with me and I know vets can make mistakes as well I have a good rapport with the vet. Sources: My experience and vet class .

One of my Dobermans used to do that. It is what is called a false pregnancy. I'm sure your vet did all the correct surgical procedures when he or she spayed your dog.

The proof will be that as you go forward with this particular false pregnancy you will see no blood. She may continue to periodically give you additional false pregnancies as well. Don't fret, your dog is fine and your vet did all the right things.

I would go and do some research for you on the subject but I think it's important for your own comfort level to do that yourself. If I can help in any way just let me know.

Check Sometimes the job isnt done right, I would consult another vet on the matter along with the vet who did the spay.

1 Unless you have the world's worst veterinarian, I imagine that he or she knows how to spay an animal! It may be some other, completely different, problem, so--as I always advise--talk to, or see, a veterinarian! If you think that your veterinarian is a complete idiot, talk with, or see, another one!

As for all costs being covered if they have to cut your dog open again, I think that's a probably a non-issue. I simply can't imagine ANY veterinarian who wouldn't know what parts to remove! This user has been banned from Askville.

2 My dog had the same problem. This was a long time ago (1970 and I was a kid back then), but what I remember was that the vet had not given her a "full" spaying. He had left her ovaries, so therefore she still had her female hormones and continued to have her estrus cycle.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
