My hair is dyed light red. I'm re-doing my whole head a copper color. Will 10 developer work on my brown roots?

I've been dying my hair certain medium copper blondes, or sizzling copper. I just recently did a 15 minute bleach to lighten it and the lady at the store said since my hair is lighter to only use a 10 developer. I'm going with a different copper color so I'm doing my whole head again.

But my natural roots are a medium to slightly dark brown. Will 10 still be ok with those roots? Or do I need to use 20?

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
