I am very similar to you regarding the use of the Pill. My moods were much better when I was on them and I felt "even" all month long. Most people I know have trouble with the pill but I found it to be very helpful to me in regulating moods and period flow.
I was on four different pills (higher estrogen type pills like Ortho Novum 1-35) and all were great. Also, women claim that the pill would lower their sex drive but it never did for me. You may not necessarily have PMDD.
You could have an imbalance of estrogen or progesterone. I happen to have high levels of estrogen so the right pill helped me a lot, especially during high stress at work. However, after some hormone testing the doctor tried putting me on a pill meant for PMDD and it made me far worse than anything else.
I have read that if you do not have PMDD but just normal PMS than pills for PMDD will make you worse off. You might want to ask your doctor to test your hormone levels including thyroid, that can have a lot to do with it as well. I am off the pill (due to ablation and tubal) but now on a light dose of thyroid mediation and it really helps to regulate my moods like the pill did.
Just make sure that before you try a pill meant for PMDD (like Yaz) that you are sure you are PMDD and not just PMS. Believe me, the pill meant for PMDD will make you much worse than using no pill. All this information is based on personal experience as well as research done on my own.
Well the reason women who take birth control may have depression, mood swings, weight gain and weight loss ect... Is because it's adjusting your hormone levels. I'm personally on the depo shot. I have anxiety issues, when I got on the shot it made my actual depression much, much worse.
I would say it could be very possible that you have a hormone imbalance or PMDD, you actually do have a few symptoms of it. Anxiety, Sadness, feeling hopeless(which could be feeling like no one likes you) Those are all signs. And there's much more, for both cases really.
Which could be why the birth control balances you out. And I do believe clinical depression is hereditary. I know a lot of people in my family have depression that they've passed on to their kids.
I would speak to your doctor about it, it never hurts. Depression and Anxiety are serious issues that can control your life and completely change you. So to be on the safe side I'd speak to your doctor or gyno about it.
:) I added a few links in my source that you ought to read.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
