My puppy is 10 weeks old and I have a hard time with him on the leash. He will not move, without it he keeps up what can I do?

Your 10 week old puppy is normal. He doesn't want a leash, but seems content to just follow you on his terms. You are the alpha.

Put the leash on him and don't try to drag him. This isn't a contest of wills. Begin with puppies by making it a game.

If he balks, kneel down and call him while gently applying pressure to the leash. Use the word "heel" a lot. When he comes, pet and praise, ear scratches and tummy rubs.

Get to the point of not kneeling as low each time, and yet calling "heel" while getting him to come. Eventually (and you'll be surprised at how fast) he'll do this while your'e walking. Try not to reward all the time with treats or food.

Save those for the end of the training lesson. Keep the same walking pace at this time. Don't vary your speed to teach "heel" until he's comfortable walking with the leash on.

Also don't make the lesson too long. He's a baby. He has an attention span that runs from 5-15 minutes. So keep the lesson to about 15 minutes a day.

Make a big deal about getting the leash. Positive speech, happy voice tones. Make the "training time" the equivilant of "work a little, play a lot.

" (the equivilant of recess for elementary school kids). When he's older, and the leash is a "good thing" and "OH BOY! THE LEASH!

PLAY TIME! " Begin to vary your speed while saying "heel." As a puppy he wants to play and to please you.

While he's older, he'll want to please even more. All trainers use this.

First of all, a warning. Puppies are not fully vaccinated at 10 weeks and PARVO is a deadly viral disease your pup can easily get... so PLEASE do not try walking it anywhere other than in your home or back yard. Okay... now you might try using a harness... these work very well on small dogs and young pups, as you said the pup resists when on the collar but is okay when loose I see the pulling on the neck as the problem.. also treats - bribe the pup forward with soft treat rewards.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
