My sister says she thinks there is no devil but she believes in God. She's..... kinda new age. Do you think that God can be real and the devil NOT be?

I believe in God, the Devil, Heaven and Hell because I have read about them in the Bible (Scripture). I believe the Bible because I have read it and have found it contents and teachings to be consistent with life in this world. The Bible teaches of a Devil (Satan) that tricked our first parent into sin and a fall which led to death, which is obvious all around us today ... temptations, which lead to problems, suffering, etc... are evidence of a Devil.
Obviously there is much more about the Bible that recommends it to me but EVIDENCE for it is too much to put here and not part of this question. Suffice to say though I believe in the Devil because the Devil is talked about in Scripture and I believe in Scripture because of what to me is abundant evidence of its truth. It is nice to believe only in God and Heaven but what about sin?
What about pain in this world? How does she explain them consistently? .
This position, though tenable, is unsustainable If it were only a matter of concepts then your sister's position might be tenable. Anyone can produce the word God and the phrase, there is no devil. But, then, we'd just be playing word games.
The issue here is what substance do these concepts have. Now most New Age people are operating in an ahistorical manner. Enjoying the social freedom of our society, people can play mind games all day long.
And they will enjoy it. But ultimately this matter is unsustainable. It isn't enough to organize a person's life.
Once your sister's project collapses, and it will, she will need to return to history. Story teaches us that our lives are continuous with the past. Revelations of deities abound.
The ultimate revelation is the Holy Trinity. Sources: archeology, anthropology, history, Biblical studies .
I don't think anyone can choose a religion, but only part of it If you choose to be religious, you should believe in your religion. Otherwise, you picked incorrectly. You can't decide that the devil doesn't exist but God does.
That would ruin the point of the religion altogether, without punishment of hell, nothing happens if you sin. Then people have no reason to follow the moral system of the religion, because there will be no consequences. - just for reference I'm pantheist- .
You’ll never get this resolved with her until you agree on a definition of God. Hers apparently centers on Goodness, yours perhaps on an opposition between Good and Evil? Certainly God *could* be real and The Devil NOT be, under some definitions of God.
Certainly there could be some aware, blissful state for everyone after earthly death, if God wanted things that way. You and she both need to be very clear about how you understand God (or whether a human even *can* do so). Sorry I can’t give you a better answer until you’re clearer in your own mind about what the question really is.
How one thinks that is very simple, actually. As with most human beings, your sister wants to have it both ways. She wants all the blessings of "God" with none of the problems + curses of there being active opposition to God.
Meanwhile, Jesus spent much more time warning us away from the "Gehenna of Fire" (not "hell" as we might think of it but a place of active torment by fire and other garbage--"Gehenna" was the constantly-burning garbage dump. ) That Jesus compared the afterlife of the sinner to a garbage dump that had been burning for centuries already says a lot; that He spoke on it repeatedly says everything. Does your sister take Jesus seriously?
Or does she do like the JW's and Mormons and pick the stuff they like and then claim the stuff they don't like, or which disagrees with their "prophet," was wrong, mistranslated, added later, out of context, etc. Okay, whatever. MY God is powerful enough to keep s word intact thru the ages; I guess her god is just too weak to do that. I don't believe in hell; but I know humans need to be warned away from it because it is a very real destination for the overwhelming majority of human beings and 1/3 of all angelic beings.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
