Anne, I use to work at CCMHMR Central Counties Mental health and Mental Retardation. The clients range from mild to severe in their diagnosis. It is based in Texas. It has been a few years but they use to assign a case worker to the family and help clients find jobs.

I am not sure if policies have changed and what programs are available. I bet they would be a good starting place. Hope this helps,Sunnie.

I think it could be effective to speak with a counselor at your son's high school, who should have this range of information at hand. In addition, look for support grpups for parents and families of individuals that suffer from ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorders. These are often listed weekly in local newspapers and many meet in local churches and libraries.

These groups would have information that could help you and your son. Another option is to call the county jobs-services entity, which may be call Jobs and Family Services (state name)Works! Or similar.

They would certainly have this type of information. The County Board of Education would have resources as well. Also call your family physician and aany thereapists you have for help.

Best of Success to your son!

I can not add to your search......However, I do applaud what you and your son must have been through together..........I encourage you to tell the story, to give hope for other parents and children who face this. Please share your triumph with others........please.....

Im sorry I do not know of any. But I did want to congradulate him on his success of graduation!

Maybe you should just treat him relatively normal even though he's not quite normal. Treating someone in a special way may perpetuate the situation.

As my husband has learned in his 40+ years if he can find his niche in life the road will be a lot easier for him. As for support services he doesn't know of anything in that area other than family and whatever friends he can make.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
