Need help: I have a serious data recovery requirement?

Proceed with the recovery as you were planning to BUT make sure nothing is written to the drive. When you recover files off of it, have the program write them on to a different drive or on to a flash drive. If it were me I would probably remove the drive from the computer and make it a slave in another system.

The way deleted data works is that it is marked as free space but nothing else is done. The computer can go ahead and use that space and write over the data though so usage of the system will degrade the data and possible eventually wipe it out. This is the software I usually use.

Have had to use it about 5 times over the past few years. It has been at least a year since I have used it but I assume the updates "probably" haven't reduced its quality. pcinspector.de/Sites/file_recovery/info.....

Data recovery is very difficult and expensive. Its not impossible to do on your own, but I would recommend a professional service if the data is that important to you. If you try on your own, you could corrupt the data and further hinder your chances of getting the files.

I had deleted some data one time that I needed to get back. I was doing wedding video recording for a friend. I had less than 2 GB of data and it took 27 hours for the data recovery tool to scan, recover, and restore the files.

One thing I did notice was the file names were different, but I did recognize the data. Sometimes, you have to restore the file before you can view it. I noticed when I went to preview some of the still shots I had from the wedding, it would come as just a bunch of text, or it would give me an error.

Once I restored the file, I could open it up fine. As well, the quality was the same, which made me happy.

Agreed, data recovery is tricky. Most "recovery" issues that people run into are related more to the drive hardware than the file system. Modern file systems tend to be a little more fault tolerant to read/write errors than hard drives are to suffering wear and tear.

If you think the problem is at all related to the drive, then I recommend grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm Spinrite. I have used it to rescue an aging Tivo several times. If you think the drive is fine and the problem is with the files...then your problem is likely to be much more difficult to resolve. It sounds like you have a number of different types of files which you cannot access.

It is likely that each of these files would need individual attention, by inspecting the structure of the file (size, header structure, etc. ). I am not aware of any services available for this type of analysis. It would undoubtedly be expensive.

Moving forward, there are a number of more robust backup methods available. File redundancy is key. In my case, I use 2brightsparks.com/syncback/syncback-hub.... Syncback to regularly make backups of my "precious" files to my local Network Attached Storage (I use http://www.freenas.org/ FreeNAS).

I also use URL5 Jungledisk to store an off-site copy of the same files in cloud-computing|"the cloud." This way, if one of the file locations becomes corrupted, its okay...even that's backed up. There are alot of online backup solutions available: http://www.mozy.com Mozy http://www.carbonite.com Carbonite http://www.getdropbox.com Dropbox I started using URL9 Jungledisk and I like it.

It uses Amazon's S3 service, so you now it is grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm0 also offers file encryption so that you are the only one who has access to your files. I hope this is helpful...good luck.

I would suggest you to recover the password by windows 7 password reset tools. Windows Login Recovery is one of such tools. In this way, you can only prepare a USB or Blank CD/DVD.

Then you download the reset tool, and follow its instructions, you can reset the lost windows 7 password in only 5 minutes.

Oh! I can suggest you 4 data recovery software. And the Review experts give you a lot of Reference data abou it,You don't need to waste your time and money on other data recovery software!

Just have a try! diskdata-recovery.com.

I haven't seen Mozy or Dropbox, but I've been using Carbonite for just over a year now and I love it. I've got 3 external USB drives but I usually forget to backup to them. Carbonite runs silently in the background when you're not using the network and it syncs the files.

Definitely recommend an online backup solution for the future.

I don't know whether you have tried this software: disk-utilities.com/data-recovery/ The Raw Recovery there can deeply scan your computer to retrieve lost files and let you preview those image files. But since your files have been lost for a long time, maybe they are overwritten. Then you may to to some recover stores to seek for more professional help.

Good luck!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
