What I think you should do is really get to the bottom of things. Find out what she means by she don't wanna mess up things. Maybe she's really afraid of commitment.In the mean time don't be to clingy but let her know, at the same time that you're still interested in her by doing small flirting and randomly holding her hand.

Since she's shy she is probably scared of being in a relationship and getting hurt. I was a shy girl once, and the way I got with my boyfriend was unexpecting to me. He would sometimes flirt and joke around with me.

And one day he just came out and held my hand, and I stepped out of my shell let him hold it. Then and there, I knew I wanted to be with him. Seeing that you really like her, don't give up quite yet.

But, if she doesn't give you positive feedback or seem to want to have a further relationship, it's her lost, cause you seem like a really nice guy. So first, have a serious talk with her and ask her does she want to give you guys a try and if it doesn't work out, you two should still be friends.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
