He is the one who said "i think therefore I am." this is the basis of existentialism. Your senses are merely electrical signals interpreted by your brain and can be artificially induced (watch the matrix). So everything you see as 'real' can never be absolutely proven to exist.
Rene Descartes realized this and concluded that the only thing that he himself could be 100% sure exists is his own thoughts. To the guy below me - where did I say he founded existentialism? I said (albeit not explicitly) that his quote resonates deeply with existentialism.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
