Basically this feature is more intuitive and it mirrors how we as human beings incorporate and judge information in the real world. The other feature for negative ratings will have the effect of deterring those individuals who have habit of posting non helpful answers for they will be marked, and this in my opinion will have the effect of improving Mahalo as a solid and reputable Knowledge Exchange. Pat your developers on their backs once again for me for a job well done.
Perhaps there should be a time limit for unpicking, just like the time given for edition.
Great - I like the new features - a few more SORT options might be - Top Rated Answerer first - Top Rated Answerer last - Expert Answer first ( This has to do with designating someone as an expert - If someone has had x number of best answers (decided by the asker, not by votes ) in a category, they can be designated as experts in that category ).
I think it's valuable to be able to sort based on the quality of the answer. However, in many cases, the helpful answer field is 0/0 for yes/no. I myself have had some opinion type answers or other answers marked as unhelpful by one person when it seemed like their judgement was incorrect. In these cases, there were some other answers that were only a couple words and didn't actually answer the question but yet those were not flagged as unhelpful.
When there are such a limited number of responses, is it then fair to put that answer at the bottom of the page? My concern is for the voting on undecided questions. Since the default sort is by most helpful, people looking to quickly inflate their points may just automatically select the answer at the top.
It is also extremely easy to make sure that someone's answer goes to the bottom by a simple click to indicate it was unhelpful. How about a system where you must submit a reason (with some words?) to mark an answer as unhelpful. That would make sure that someone was paying attention and if additional input was required would help alleviate cases of people accidentally clicking on the wrong thing.
If someone was then marking answers unhelpful repeatedly in cases where it seemed unjustified, theses comments could then be reviewed to determine if someone was abusing the system.
I think you should keep the default as "Oldest first". It's pretty disorienting when my post appears somewhere in the middle immediately after I post it. That might just be me though.
Are there any other opinions on that?
I'm impressed by your ability to develop along. It is nice that you are serious about making a good effort. That is impressive.
Maybe a feature like that would be cool where you can move the answer you like up to the top by pressing an up or down button, or actually delete the answer if you do not like to see it. Sometimes there are answers I just do not want to see, and it would be nice to delete them! If this helps your developers at all, be sure to let me know!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
