Probably in response to the "black lives matter" hype--which statistically shows the same thing as the cop killings----there really isn't a national issue here--just local issues inflated by the media.
Because hyping the story attracts viewers, and more viewers equal higher ad revenues,,, and at the end of the day,, television news is all about making money anyway. Seriously, if you think the media is here to inform you about anything you're sadly mistaken, it's all about making money,,,, there's an old adage about news programing,,, "if it bleeds, it leads.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
