Nostalgia Time - Board Games?

Similar questions: Nostalgia Time Board Games.

I certainly hope not! Old I’m glad to report that board games are alive and well at our place. Here are some of our favorites: Scrabble - a game to which I am thoroughly addicted.

Rigamarole - When you play Rigamarole, you see a side of people that you never expected, like a competitive streak, a quirky sense of humor, or worldly knowledge. Within the first round you will already be laughing and conversing about everyone’s hidden talents. This game is especially fun for groups who don’t know each other, and for people who are shy or who hate games.

Ask anyone who has played and they will tell you they were challenged by the questions, they pushed their boundaries, they impressed their friends with a couple of things they knew, and they discovered their silly side. Apples to Apples - not exactly a board game, but a very creative game nevertheless. Are you familiar with these?

I am happy to say that boards games are alive and well. Yes, I do play on my computer, but playing across a table is so much more fun for me. I love talking and laughing along with the gaming.

The games I have played most recently are Scrabble (I usually win), Pente (I usually lose), and 9 Men's Morris (it's a toss up. ) I also am encouraging others to take up games. My sister-in-law just had a birthday and along with the other gifts we sent her a box of dominoes along with rules to a game we had taught her last time she visited us.

We just received her thank you card. She is thrilled. You know what?

You just inspired me. I am going to set Askville aside for an hour and go play Clue with my husband. Thanks for the idea!

We still love board games. I can't speak for everyone, but my family plays tons of games. Both of my kids have closets full of games, and we play something about 2-3 nights a week.

If you count card games like UNO or Skip-bo, we play something almost every night. Every Christmas, we make sure we get our kids at least one new game, so we can play something new on Christmas day. One year, I even spent too much money to get a game called Ready, Set, Spaghetti for my kids, but it was worth it.

I do think a lot of families have given up this tradition, but a lot of parents I see don't spend a lot of time with their kids doing much of anything. My son's friends are always amazed at how many games he and my daughter have. I was raised playing games, and it is a tradition that I wanted to continue with my own kids.

Another thing I don't like that I saw recently that kind of goes along with your question is the new moneyless Monopoly. It has a debit card you slide. Part of the fun of Monopoly was amassing a huge pile of play money. It's also taking out the education facet of the game.

I don't think board games will completely disappear anytime soon, but I do think they are on the decline with a lot of families. BarbieM's Recommendations Sorry! Yes I know plenty of people who still play board games. When I get together with friends we play board games, not necessarily the classic games, but we do play board games and card games. In fact with my boyfriend's friends I've learned about some really cool games that I love to play.

:-P ). With other friends, we play a variety of newer games like Shadows Over Camelot and Ticket to Ride. And yes, I own about four different versions of Trivial Pursuit (though none of them are electronic in any way).

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
