Having laws discourages these criminals to not break the law. If there were no laws these "law-abiding citizens" will start to worry less about going to jail. Theft would increase as theft is one of the most common forms of crime.
Other larger scale things like stealing millions of dollars from large corporations would occur. Most of the time police catch these people because the internet makes things much easier to catch but without laws these people would get away with it. If there were no laws you would not be able to get insurance because who would want that kind of risk.
All your possessions could be stolen and you could do nothing about it. The main thing is it is likely that these criminals will be caught but if no one is going to catch them what is going to happen? Regular people will not feel safe and have to carry around their own weapons so if someone does something to them they will shoot them creating criminals out of regular people.
So why do we have laws? To make sure criminals get punished and discourage them to do the crime.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
