Now that you mention it... My neighbor thinks that he should share his old Halloween/Autumn Pumkins with the rest of the nighborhood. He places them on a corner of his property about nine inches from our driveway and cheerfully lets them rot for months. But he gets the Christmas stuff down promptly and makes snide comments because we leave a tree up until mid-February.

Where is it written that Christmas trees must be promptly removed. We enoy the lights and warmth through the bleak fog and grayness of January and February. I wouldn't dream of removing it until the first buds begin to show.

On the other hand, we have several folks around that do not remove their outdoor lighting at all, merely unplug them and let them rest, unlighted, for the rest of the year. At the appropriate time of the next holiday season, they will plug them back in.

I give em a little slack...just a little I'm with you on the pumpkins at this time of year. While I try to give the benefit of the doubt, most able bodied individuals ought be able to at least relocate the out of season items out of sight. I'm quite alright with the Christmas decor until around the 6th of January, when the Christian season of Christmas actually ends.

And even then I could let it slide a little while...some people do put off their final celebrations until the new year. And in the northern reaches, harsh winters can prevent the well intentioned from getting out to retrieve decorations. But I think most people have the sense, even if the lights and greens have to stay hung, at least they don't have to stay lit.

(Although surely not all)But then again if someone likes the look of deflated gourds next to their Christmas greens, who am I to judge? And if we didn't have these souls who stepped in time to a different drummer, what would we have to banter about on these long winter eves. Sources: Opinion .

Outside lights and window candles are gone throughout the neighborhood, but I notice that my neighbors across the ..... street still have a lighted tree in their front room -- must be artificial. I took my live tree down on Twelfth Night, as always, but secretly I kind of envy their holding on to the feeling of Christmastide in that way.

1 I once left a Christmas tree up for two years -- through three Christmases. Then I got married and my new wife took it down and gave it away.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
