On doing laundry: I have my washing machine and dryer in the basement. While I do 2 loads every day, I don't want to be putting laundry away every single day. I want to come up with a system of baskets to put each person's clothes in (after they're washed) and when they're full, the person who owns the clothes puts them away.
Two questions: I don't want to have to fold them and separate them into piles myself, but don't want them all wrinkled, either. I have one large basket for dish towels, bath towels, and sheets which I take care of without problem. I just want some suggestions on what others do to simplify and save time.
Thanks! Oh, sorting socks is always a problem, too! Asked by quandryhere 55 months ago Similar questions: laundry washing machine dryer basement loads day Home.

That doesn’t solve the folding problem, but it would keep things sorted. I’d make each child responsible for having dirty laundry end up in the correct basket. And, if it’s not in the basket, don’t wash it.
That worked (after a while) with my kids who left clothes all over and then complained when nothing was clean. If each child has his or her own laundry basket, you could also put each basket (filled now with clean clothes) on the child’s bed when you’re done with it. It could then be the child’s job to fold (with your help at first) and put away his own things.
I think that separate laundry baskets ought to help, whether or not the kids can do any part of their own laundry. At least it’s a step towards personal responsibility. Good luck!

Colors Give each person in the house a different colored basket. Write their names in black magic marker on the side. Two loads of laundry per day is a lot; is there any way others in the house could share the whole chore, not just putting away?
In our house, we put all the dirty laundry in a large plastic bin by the washing machine. When the bin is full, we wash the clothes. When clothes are taken from the dryer, they get hung up on plastic on the nearby pipes or put into the person’s basket.
For socks, you can get some mesh bags, like the ones used for lingerie. Tie a cloth ribbon in each person's color to that bag. (Make sure the color of the ribbon won't run!) All that person's socks go in that bag.
Wash the bag with the socks inside, take the bag and toss it into the person's bin. Make each person responsible for making sure socks (and undies too if you want) go in the bag. Make a bin for unmatched socks and refuse to sort them.
You might need two mesh bags per person. MissBert's Recommendations Gentle Mesh Lingerie Wash Bag with Nylon Zipper - (White) Amazon List Price: $3.49 Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 (based on 1 reviews) .
I feel your pain Here’s what I do: I set up a long banquet type table and a simple hanging rack on wheels equipped with hangers. (I don’t hang the clothes when they come out of the dryer but it’s there when folks are ready to deal with putting their clothes away. ) Everyone has their own color baskets, 2 of each, one for lights and one for darks.
When the clothes come out of the dryer, I put the things that either won’t wrinkle or won’t matter if they are wrinkled (undies, socks, etc) in the bottom of the basket that goes with the load. Then I lay the things that I don’t want wrinkled flat over the top of basket and leave it on the table for the owner to come and claim when they are ready. Because the baskets are in the basement I don’t care how long they sit there. As for socks, I HATE mating socks when they come out of the wash.
I bought sock clips and have trained the family (except my son) to use them. If your pair of socks is not on your feet they are clipped together. No more mis-mates, no more mating socks. Dump it all out on one large table My family has used that method for years. Mom and dad would rotate the laundry whenever they went past the laundry room, then dump the clean clothes on the table, and everybody would spend some time folding them at random intervals. All folded clothes would be put into piles (mostly by type) and anyone who wanted clean clothes could go to the laundry room to get theirs. It worked well because everybody was involved at different times, the big table made it easy to separate piles of folded clothes from the big pile of unfolded clothes, and if you wanted a specific piece of clothing, all you had to do was go to the laundry room and get it.
Oh, we tended to use a cheap, flat door as the table, sitting on a couple of sawhorses. You did mention you had a lot of room. :) andlar's Recommendations 2 Pack of SH32 FOLDING STEEL SAWHORSE 24" X 78" Embossed White Interior Door Amazon List Price: $46.85 .
This is what we do... My 10 year old has been doing her own laundry since she was 8. She has a horrible problem with keeping her drawers in order so we have resorted to her hanging up all clothes in her closet except undergarments and pajamas. This has taught her to take responsibility of her own things.
That way if her favorite outfit is dirty, it's not my fault. She has a small laundry basket that she has to wash as soon as its full that she doesn't have 6 loads to wash in one day. As for my clothes, the baby's and my husband's, I wash and dry during the day.
Since I HATE folding, I bring the basket upstairs as we are getting ready for bed and we fold them together. He has never helped with laundry so I started this system last week. He complains a little but it gets done so fast because we have the television on and we get to talk with no kids around.
He has even made a game out of it. He will match his socks and get me to open his sock drawer and he tosses them in from the bed. He is definitely a kid at heart.
The bonus for me: We have the clothes in our room already and we put them away as we fold them so I don't get behind anymore! .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
