There are many factors. A front loading washing machine is the least hard on clothing. The tumbling action is the lowest impact cleaning method.

Between a dryer and a top loading washing machine, I would say it's a toss-up. The heat of the dryer will tend to weaken fibers, but the agitator of a top loading washing machine is a pretty vigorous beating on the fibers.
