May 29th. 1953 Edmund Percival born in Auckland New Zealand in the year 1919, was the first to reach the summit of Mount Everest together with Sherpa Tenzing Norgay on May 29, 1953 A man with a heart! Died on the 11 January 2008 A sad loss to New Zealand.
