What really surprised me was..... I agree about the way people looked. It ran the gamut from those that aged very well (not many of them, I'm afraid) to those that looked like your grandparents! I will also say that the nerds really do become the most successful, so they finally get their revenge : ) What really shocked me the most was the number of divorces that happened between the 15 and 20 yr reunions - people calling it quits after 18, 20 yr marriages.
Sad to think you have invested that many years in a relationship only to have to start over again. Class reunions sure are an eye opener, aren't they? : ) .
I graduated from a small town with one high school where everyone knew everyone. I have known most of my classmates since I was in 4th grade and we have reunions that are well attended every 5 yrs. At the 20th, everyone still looked pretty good.
The women (myself included) had been working out and had been on diets for 3 months prior to the reunion and still looked pretty good. I saw the biggest difference at the 25th. The men had greater amounts of hair missing, bigger pot bellies.
The woman still looked pretty good but you could see the age more in their faces. The cheerleader/homecoming queen who was always voted 'most popular' has never come to any of them and I have heard that she gained alot of weight and that was why she won't come. My first major boyfriend from 4th grade (I started young!) is a Harley biker, with alot of tatoos, hair on his head and face down to his shoulders and is a druggie.
My 30th reunion is the summer of 2008 and I am starting my diet now. I will be tan and toned by then! Lgh!
But the greatest differences I saw were not in the looks. Many of the guys I dated and thought were so cool and cute, turned out to be people I would have been extremely unhappy with had I ever married them. And the quiet, shy types, who nobody would date, turned out to have the more successful careers.
Many of them became men of integrity who stepped up to the plate when life handed them curves and became men I admire a great deal now. I also noticed more honesty at the 25th. We stood around and shared alot of things that were so surprising to me and that nobody would dare utter or admit until then.
For instance, my mother made all of my clothes because when I was a teen, I was so tiny that I couldn't fit the teen sizes. (a late bloomer) I always felt so inferior to others and jealous of everyone because I couldn't wear popular clothes off the rack.At my reunion, many of the girls told me how jealous of me they were because I had such 'neat' clothes and they all wished their moms would sew for them. That was a revelation!
A friend of mine whose family life I was so jealous of for many reasons, confessed to me that her father had sexually abused her all of her early years until she left home. What a shock! Some people thanked me for being kind to them at a bad time in their life when I had no idea I was.
Some guys revealed secret crushes to me that I was oblivious to.It was very enjoyable to get past the walls we all had and to see the real people. (but I still intend to diet before the 30th! ) Sources: my life Kyasi's Recommendations National Lampoon's 1964 39th Reunion Amazon List Price: $19.95 Used from: $33.45 Average Customer Rating: 4.0 out of 5 (based on 14 reviews) Planning Your gh School Reunion: Making It Fun and Easy Amazon List Price: $14.95 Used from: $27.83 Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 (based on 1 reviews) gh School Reunion (Cheek) Amazon List Price: $12.95 Used from: $0.50 Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 (based on 1 reviews) How to Prepare for Your gh School Reunion and Other Midlife Musings Amazon List Price: $4.95 Used from: $0.50 Average Customer Rating: 4.0 out of 5 (based on 1 reviews) .
Not to mention how many had died! That is what shocked me the most at the last reunion that I attended. There were slightly over 100 in our class and 10 or so were dead.
The head cheerleader had certainly put on a lot of weight and had married a real idiot who was also in our class. The biggest drunk in our class (eighteen was the legal age when we graduated) is now a Baptist minister. The skinniest kid in the class wasn’t anymore and there bald heads everywhere.Do you remember the cute girls in your class?
You know, the ones who were far from drop dead gorgeous and were kind of shy but they were just cute. I found at our last reunion that the cute girls still were and the sex pots had gone to pot. A good friend of mine was dating one of the cute girls and dropped her for one of the sex pots.
It pleased me at the last reunion to see that she was still extremely cute and had married a very good guy while my friend had married the sexpot and she now has hips that you could park a truck on. As for me I was never skinny and I was even less so at the reunion but I had all of my hair even though a lot of it is gray. I was one of about thirty that was still married to their first spouse and most everybody recognized me despite my long beard.

25 this year I attended my 25 year high-school reunion this year. As a woman, I can tell you that some of the good-looking guys stayed that way, some didn't. The biggest surprise was the guy that I got stuck having behind me in homeroom all the way through high-school.
He was an obnoxious jerk, as well as one of those baby-faced, in-shape football player guys. He now has the gut, has lost a great deal of his hair and looks about 10 years older than we are. Many thanks to Mother Nature for the payback!
I would say the same about the women from my class; some stayed the same, some didn't. It seemed to hit randomly in various "cliques" in our high school, which I thought was pretty fair. More interestingly, there were some people that I recognized right away and some that I still think were stunt doubles for who they said they were!
Seriously, some of those people looked NOTHING like they did 25 years ago.
I only recognized two people, because all the rest of us had changed although alot more people recognized me than I recognized. Only one of the cherrleaders was there and she had aged gracefully, and was still an attractive woman.
