Only men can raise German Shepherds" some truth to this?

Of course they can. I`m female 5ft 4" and weigh 9 stone, and I walk both my Gsd males together on one double clip lead. However....Many lines of the Gsd are not really a dog for the weak minded and they need an owner who is a confident and calm leader and who is firm but fair in their attitude with the dog.

The German Shepherd should not "pull" on the lead if trained "correctly"and should be taught how to walk properly on the lead when it`s a puppy and also trained in all the other basic commands. Eg: Sit, wait/stay, down, recall, leave and quiet. If you get a puppy, ask the breeder for the most laid back or submissive natured one and not one that has a Dominant or over excitable nature, as they may prove a bit too hard for you to handle.

Good luck.

I was about your size when I got my first German shepherd. It is not a matter of physical strength to control a dog, it depends upon skill and good training. Start when the pup is young.

I recommend early puppy training as in the Sirius Puppy Training Classes and Sirius Kindergarten Classes. You can find more information at siriuspup.com.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
