OPEN DISCUSSION: Flock 3 has been released it is based on google chrome Would you ever use a google chrome based flock for social networking?

No, I won't use flock as I have already all my favorite apps running on FireFox which is my chosen browser. The problem with Chrome is the lack of "add-ons" that are currently available on FF and if Flock now decided to be powered by Chromium then it is most likely that certain features will also not be present.

I think the code is good. But the browsers in many ways are the exact opposite. Chrome was designed for simplicity, speed, for the browser to get out tof the way of your browsing.

While Flock's whole thing has been social which means the broswer is always up in your face.

I am already firmly involved in Google products. I am thrilled with the ease of use of things like Chrome, Gmail, and Google Docs and I quite frequently use them for fun and projects. I am interested in trying it out, but will likely do a bit more research first.

h-online.com/open/news/item/Flock-3-Beta... Besides Firefox may have cooties. OK that is just a reference to the comical headline below, but the bottom line appears to be that Chromium is fast and ready for mobile platforms. pcworld.com/article/199091/does_firefox_... Here is another interesting read that compares Flock 3.0 to the older versions and talks more about the Chromium switch.

Interestingly it seems to loose some features in favor of raw speed. If you like 2 there is a 2.6 update that has recent security fixes and and it may release an update to have old-school Flock using on Firefox 3.6 http://www.pcworld.com/article/198981/flock_30_the_social_browser_gets_a_reboot.html?loomia_ow=t0:s0:a38:g26:r15:c0.007343:b34963184:z0.

I have never used Google Chrome before and I have no intention of using the Google chrome based version of Flock for everyday social networking because I have always been comfortable with Firefox compatibility and user friendly features for the many add-on Firefox has to offer. Furthermore chrome extensions compared to Firefox extensions are not in league with each other in terms of functionality. As an additional points on Firefox for Flock, is that it is based on open source browser code and I felt the stability of the platform, compared to Flock on Google Chrome which is still in Beta, bugs may be a constant threat and some thing could still go wrong in the early stages.

Another added bane is that "developers have swapped out Chrome's bookmark folder system in favor of a tagging model. Although the tagging approach is not bad, the absence of folders demolishes the usefulness of the browser's bookmark bar. " As a final note, I will continue to stick with Flock on Firefox right now due to the fact that it is already built on firm ground and I don't see any reason to shift to Flock 3 based on Google Chrome.

I have used Google Chrome in the past, And indeed I liked it. So if I looked more into the Flock thing I might use it.

No. I have not used google chrome based version of flock for social networking. I am just using google chrome for browsing. It is the first time I am hearing about flocks usage.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
