P.Twitty question of the day- if you could demand that President Obama accomplishes one thing, what would that be?

To reduce the size and power of the government.

Impress upon the public that they have the right to the PURSUIT of happiness, not the right to happiness. I think way too many people in the US want everything given to them and do not want to work for anything. I live in a poor state so maybe I see it more than most.

Plant and mine workers wanting VASTLY more money that the job would normally entail based on skill and danger. Teachers not wanting merit based pay because they would have to work more. Doctors not wanting caps put on procedure costs because they would have to work more.

CEO's and executives with huge golden parachutes given even for poor performance. Banks/Lenders giving money to people who CLEARLY could never pay it back simply to make more money in the short term.(Side note variable interest rate home loans should be illegal. If you can't afford a fixed rate you can't afford the house your trying to buy.

Buy something cheaper or save up more of a down payment. Also forced PMI should be illegal if the person would have been forced to take PMI they should not be loaned to in the first place. ) Let the unhelpful answers rain down on me.

Return the government to the people. Reduce the size and extent of the federal government and return to Constitutional principles.

Bring the government and the country back to the people instead of corporate America.

They knew what they were doing and no president should be allowed to destroy it Bush, Obama or otherwise.

Significantly increase our use of renewable energy/reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.

To live up to his promise of not having lobbyists all around and to get rid of his lobbyist filled cabinet and every other lobbyist he's hired.

Making heath care more affordable. Watched CNN yesterday do a segment on COBRA. Seems that it's cheaper for most families of 4 to be on COBRA than it us to purchase health insurance through my husband's job.It was around $1000 for the COBRA people a month, where ours (if we had it) would be about $1,200.

If we had universal healthcare, people wouldn't be as afraid to look at starting their own businesses. I know friends of mine that stay in jobs they hate just because they can't afford to lose the insurance. A medicare for all scenario would help this.

Criminalize abortion on demand. I would like a flat tax rate, an end to redistribution of wealth, the privatization of education, etc. , but if I can choose only one, I would like government to perform its primary function: protect human life. Government exists to protect us from each other, not to feed the poor, educate children, or heal the sick (all of which are good endeavors).

With people on waiting lists to adopt babies and with statistics showing that adopted homes are the best places for all children, it is time to criminalize capital punishment for our most weak and innocent.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
