Pet Owners: Do you feed your pet people food?

Sometimes I give my cat the tuna juice, or the bottom of my ice cream bowl, but as far as scraps go, no, we don't. Our cats throw up enough as it is.

I share some things but not a whole lot and I don't give any pork. I will give raw hamburger, chicken and beef cubes to my cats and my dog sometimes. Most times they get dry food.It is good to give them raw foods in their diets and it should be daily, but the cost of that is kind of out of our budget so we do what we can do when we can.

I also drizzled Olive Oil and throw in some Vitamin E and Vitamin A into the dogs dish in the winter. It keeps his skin and coat healthy.

Not regularly. I have 2 large German Shepherds and they eat dry dog food. Every now and then we will treat them with some people food.

Not at the table though, we do not want them begging and they can reach the food on the table without jumping.

In the winter, when the air is dry. I will dribble a little oil onto their food which helps their skin from drying out.

This is a great question and one that I always ask as a dinner guest (subtly - like taking their kids to one side and asking them) if I don't know the people very well. Pre-warned is pre-armed mate!

So...... It's not so rude as it is important to know beforehand as to whether or not your host is likely to slip you a pet food pate; because their animals are considered to be more precious than human friendship!

This really is more common than you would expect.

Typically, I don't. But after having kids, it is inevitable. My daughter learned quick that if she didn't like something she would throw it on the floor.

Now, my one is sick and lost a ton of weight, so the doctor basically told us to feed him whatever he will eat.

Sometimes we'll let our hamster lick an empty yoghurt pot, or bowl of icecream, but other than the odd vegetable of very small piece of fruit, its boring dried food for the hammy.

Yes I do give them people food because I prefer that I know the ingredients of the food they are eating... My adult dog is eating cooked brown rice combined with boiled meat and vegetables. I don't give him fats, I don't add any spices in his food.

I also give him yogurt.... everything that I know can do good for him.

Well Im guessing its a family tradition to feed our animals people food. My grand mother would wake up every morning at 4 am to start breakfast at 0430. After she cooked for her and my grandfather and me sometimes as well.

She would cook her cat two strips of bacon, a fried egg and hominy. Which explains as well how her cat ended up weighing 45 pounds.

Myself. Well my dogs get fat scraps, bones, mashed potato's. Nibbler favorites are pringles and hot and spicy pig skins.

While Little guy goes ballastic for Avacado's. And all of them love popcorn. Go figure.

No feeding peopple food to your dog enforces begging and is un healthy for your pet.

I started feeding our two home-cooked food because they were having skin itchies and I didn't trust the ingredients in commercial pet food. I have to keep it simple or I won't keep it up! So I boil ground beef and drain it, and mix it with cooked brown rice and a nutritional supplement to give them the vitamins and minerals they need.

They love it, and I know it's healthy for them.

They do occasionally get bits of what we are eating, because they are spoiled, but I try to limit what and how often. A little bacon, or half a brussels sprout -- who can resist those pleading eyes?

I know that I don't feed my dog people food but my grandpa comes over and my dog gets excited. She doesn't miss a single meal of food and goodness!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
