Please help me find a book I read a long time ago, but can't remember the title or author. Its about a boy who grows up poor, gets a job at a hotel, then a job at a factory, where he meets and falls in love with a pretty, poor girl. He works his way up the social ladder only to fall in love with a rich, beautiful girl.
He sees both girls for a while, the takes to poor girl out on a lake where he lets her drown so he can be with the rich girl and the "in" crowd. Then there is a trial for murder after they find the body. That's about all I can remember.
The word "bell" may be in the title, or maybe not. Please help me! I never got to read the end!

It's my favorite book.... It’s named An American Tragedy and the author is Theodore Dreiser. It was based on a true story: a girl drowning in the Adirondacks in New York State, pregnant, and her lover charged with her murder. The story and trial received a lot of attention in the press at that time.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
