You can try this:Go into Control Panel and find the Add/Remove hardware and remove your printer. Then disconnect it. Go here:support.dell.com/support/topics/global.a... download the driver to the printer.

You might want to shut the computer off. Plug the printer back into the computer and boot up. See if Windows sees the printer and asks you for the drivers.

You can then point the wizard to the drivers you've downloaded. Get those drivers installed and see if the printer is recognized. Try this and let us know what happens.

Thank you DanZee: We abandoned the project. We tryed downloading from the dell drivers, but something kept getting stuck in the print spooler and it would not print any more thatn one page. We cryed uncle and purchaced a new printer.

It should work fine with Vista if you still have the install disk or can download the driver from the Dell site.

No, start with the install disk. You have to install the printer driver before you can update the printer driver. The link to the printer support page is the same as I listed above:support.dell.com/support/topics/global.a... aspx/support/product_support/en/printers/aio?

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
