You can do the universal joints and center support. You need a special bearing puller to get the bearing off, then a press for the new one. Then when its all back together, have to check the gear / pinion backlash.

I would let mechanic do it all.

This repair will ruin your holiday season. Any-time the rear-end is split open for repair, it's not a job for the inexperienced.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
