To most Americans, yes. Even Reagan understood that government needs to grow in a recession and he raised taxes 11 times. But the GOP has two goals.
If unemployment stays high, they believe they will win the senate and the white house -which failed last time around. And the corporations stuffing their pockets want us all to be wage slaves so desperate for jobs we will put up with labor violations, crappy pay, and lousy treatment just to keep a job. Fact: Our infrastructure is in desperate need of repair - like ignoring a hole in the roof while the rain gushes in.
It has already cost us billions because the damages from Katrina were due to our failure to maintain levees. Since we have to spend that money anyway, why not spend it now, giving government contracts to US businesses who will hire people in the US to do the work. When those people have jobs and money to spend, they will stimulate the economy, which will create even more jobs.
With more jobs, government revenue will go up from income and other taxes (like sales tax). Fewer people will need unemployment, welfare, food stamps, medicaid, etc. So revenue goes up and spending goes down. For something we have to do anyway.
Sounds like a win all around. So you have to wonder why the GOP won't even allow a vote on the infrastructure bill. Are they afraid to let everyone know that they are voting against American jobs and real stimulus?
Given that they voted against their own funded jobs for vets bill, apparently they don't give a crap about people finding jobs. The deficit has fallen at record rates in the last three years since WWII, as a percentage of GDP. Mercadie, you ignoranti.
Obama has proposed all kinds of jobs. When Bush left office, we were LOSING 800,000 jobs a month. Now we are gaining over 200,000.
That's a one million a month gain. THink of how much better we would do if the GOP quit blocking and detering votes on real jobs bills. And by the way, the GOP wants to INCREASE the defense budget.
Obama, along with the Pentagon, wants to decrease it. So you are wrong on both counts.
Until we stop sending fleets of fighter jets over to Egypt and pull them out of their economic mess and stop giving the wrong Arab country 65 million dollars we will never see any of our money. Obama isn't going to help us with jobs as he's proven this the last 4+ yrs!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
