1 knowware, regarding your answer "I have Acrobat Pro 7.0 and Acrobat Reader 8.0 and this worked for me...":I followed your instructions and the results allowed the PDF to be downloaded and opened locally, rather than the PDF opening embedded within the browser. I still want to use the adobe plugin to allow me to view PDFs from my browser. Since the problem exists within both Firefox and IE, I wonder if there is a more global setting that got changed when I installed Professional 6.0.
2 If the Pro 6.0 was added after Reader 8.0 you might try uninstalling 8.0 and then installing again which should reset the file associations and perhaps other registry issues. It sounded like you already checked the standard file associations in Windows Explorer, but perhaps there's a component that Pro 6.0 knocked out? .
Now when opening PDF's from my web browser, Acrobat 6 Professional attempts to open the PDF and not Reader 8. On Firefox, I get an error stating that the adobe acrobat reader that is running cannot be used to open PDF files in a web browser. When attempting in IE 6.0, it opens just fine, but not with Reader 8, with Professional 6.
The following is an example of a PDF link I was attempting to open:http://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&channel=s&hl=en&q=presidents+income&btnG=Google+SearchThe first hit should be a PDF file. Please note, the program associated to the PDF file extension in my Windows installation is Reader 8, and PDF files opened locally open with Reader 8. How can I get my web browser, primarily firefox, to open PDF files from the web with Reader 8?
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
