Most scholars of our time don't see us overcoming all these obstacles, but instead succumbing to them, and self-destructing one way or another. Can you envision a way in which humanity can set all these philosophies aside - as the primary originators of all war and self-destructive policies? Can you see this happening in your lifetime?
Aside from Gary4Books, is there anyone else out here who is optimistic about this actually happening? Asked by NanoNano 47 months ago Similar questions: Putting religion politics economics nationalism humanity reach harmony Entertainment > Television.

I'm sorry to say Nano Nano, I don't see this EVER happening to humanity... As far back as we can go in history there have always been conflicts. Some people have been fighting each other for hundreds of years if not more. Part of this is human nature, and I think it's what helped us take over the world.
We are an agressive and curious creature. We always want to find out things, explore, go over the hill to see what's there. Story has taught us that our past is full of war, domination and suffering.
We life to gain land, water, minerals, wood, etc So NO I don't see it happening ever to humans, we will always have conflict. Im so sure, that I believe if we begin to live on other planets such as Mars, we'll continue our agression towards eath other. Sad, but true.
I hate agressive or mean people. "all we are asking, is give peace a chance", great quote John...
Sure, as long as you eliminate religion, and have a single world government, a single language, a single currency, an equitable distribution of resources and opportunity and freedome of movement, everything will align like it is in Star Trek. You'll notice the only religion practiced in Star Trek is practiced by whackos - we need to outgrow the need for that nonsense and understand our own pitifully small place in the universe and deal with it rationally.
It can't happen And the reason is, I'm afraid, religious. We are not good at heart, but rebellious at heart. Check in with any two-year-old or teenager.
The reason we make the tons and tons of laws we have is to try to keep ourselves in check. As long as there are the twin desires to control and to rebel against authority, there will not be peace. It takes an entire change of heart within each individual person to achieve real peace, and that, again, is a 'religious' thing..
Take John Lennon’s famous song lyrics "Imagine" into this equation: Imagine there's no heaven, It's easy if you try, No hell below us, Above us only sky, Imagine all the people living for today... Imagine there's no countries, It isnt hard to do, Nothing to kill or die for, No religion too, Imagine all the people living life in peace... You may say Im a dreamer, but Im not the only one, I hope some day you'll join us, And the world will live as one. (Imagine all the people sharing all the world) Imagine no possesions, I wonder if you can, No need for greed or hunger, A brotherhood of man, Imagine all the people Sharing all the world... You may say Im a dreamer, but Im not the only one, I hope some day you'll join us, And the world will live as one. Unfortunately, mankind - the two words that should have never been combined "man" and "kind", chose to silence Mr. Lennon.
It is a grand and utopian idea that I want to believe can happen. In my lifetime? I doubt it, realistically.

Probably not.....but it doesn't mean we should stop trying.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
