Nothing does well really in heavy clay soil. You need to dig a huge hole the size of at least a 30 gallon pot, take away the clay and dirt and fill the hole with very rich garden soil. If you cannot afford to buy bags of soil, find someone who has horses.

Fill the hole with horse manure, push it in firmly and let it compost. Plant your tree.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
