Question for average Americans that are so concerned about the national debt?

First, we can't just put a band aid on this thing. The program would have to be solid for the next two years and not just until the first of the year as Republicans want. Secondly, we need to roll back the tax cuts that the Republicans have provided to the wealthy and corporations to pre-Reagan era levels.

Thirdly, we need to stop being the World's police. We need to stop starting foreign wars in third world countries and propping up dictators so American companies can take the third world country's resources. Fourth, we need to stop ALL pay increases for senators, congressmen, the president, the Supreme Court and other government workers...the higher the wages the more important that the pay remain the same.

No increases. And put Congress on Social Security. Fifth, Social Security and Medicare REMAINS an entitlement program for every American who has worked for it and invested in it.

An amendment will be passed forbidding the privatization of these programs. Sixth, We will withdraw from Afghanistan and Iraq. We will stop supporting Hamid Karzai.

Seventh, we will install Bill Clinton in a cabinet post for the reduction of spending and the normalization of America's National Debt. He is the only man capable of this because he left us with a balanced budget and a surplus. Eighth, Americans will disband the Republican party which raised the debt ceiling 18 times under Ronald Reagan and 19 times under George Bush.

They should NEVER be allowed to make police in this country again. Ninth, if no compromise, President Obama should invoke the constitutional ability to raise the debt ceiling himself and show the Republicans why we elected him in the first place. Tenth, Our government will offer modest tax breaks to companies that hire and retain workers in the coming years.

Since our middle class pays the largest share of taxes in America, we need programs that benefit them now and not the wealthy.

Repeal Bush tax cuts. (They were supposed to be temporary anyway). End the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia etc. End the war on drugs.

Let individuals opt out of Social Security if they wish. Those that choose get a one time check for the amount they paid in. Close ALL tax loopholes and then lower the overall corporate rate from around 40% to around 20%.

(This way GE doesn't get to pay ZERO taxes). That's a start.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
