Questions about enlisting in the US Air Force or Navy?

Well to become an Officer you need a Bachelor's Degree and be commissioned, so that is not an option right out of high school. To become a MM then you need to score high enough on the ASVAB to have it offered to you. ALL Enlisted go to Boot Camp first and then to A School and if necessary C School for schooling/training then to your assigned command.

Yeah, you need a college degree to become an officer, you can't just BECOME an officer. As for Machinist Mate...no...don't do it. Unless you go nuclear.

It's an overmanned job, it's hot, it's long hours. You're the first one on the ship and the last one off everyday...by hours. You stand more watch, get more work, and deal with a lot more stress.

Watch in itself is terrible, you stand in a 100F box watching dials and gauges for hours on end, work all day, get two hours of sleep, and get woken up because something on some random pump stopped working. So you spend three hours taking apart a pump, getting it back together, and then you go get a shower and try to hit your rack and then they run a loss of vacuum drill on you and that's another two hours playing their stupid little games and running around like an idiot. After that's over you can't go to sleep because now your work day has started and you've been up for two days straight.

May I suggests something a little less extreme, Damage Control if you want to be an engineer...perhaps?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
