None of your "benefits" are preferrable. Why should anything that involves the dissolution of the brilliant self and ego, and emphasizes detachment, "unity with all things" and love of the god/the universe be trusted? The solution is that we craft our own salvation and forge our own path.
The solution is power, spiritual power. The solution is that we free ourselves for ourselves, rather than follow some doctrine laid out by someone else.
Science is not a source of dogma, and atheism has nothing to do with greed or war -- and is in fact directly opposed to illusion. You are speaking of something about which you are clearly profoundly misinformed. If, as you say, the Buddha did not believe in gods, then he was an atheist.
So I don't see why you're criticizing atheism.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
