Rat Patrol! Would you object to rats replacing dogs in airport bomb sniffing tasks?

I think if they work as well as the dogs, or better, then this is a good option. It would save a lot of money, and they would probably have a lot more of them, so they could cover more area's. I would hope they would be the white breed, as they aren't as creepy to look at, as opposed to the black and grey ones!

I really dislike rats, but I think if you are at a busy airport, you probably wouldn't take a lot of notice if they used them discreetly!

Rats or dogs, it does not matter, as long as they are no going to die or suffer in the process. They should also be rewarded (in the form of food and so on) for explosives they found out.

I think that many people have a fear of rats dating back to the times of the Plague. Also rats may be difficult to recapture if they escaped in a large building such as an airport. Although some rats such as white rats may be relatively tame I am not sure if they are as domesticated as say Dogs.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
