Rats rats rat!?

First off, dogs, cats are reptiles are totally different. Reptiles are not very social animals, most of them prefer to be alone if they don't require it with rare exceptions. Dogs and cats are social animals, but they get to be with people the whole time people are home.

Dogs do not live in a little cage that they do everything in and only get an hour or two of playtime a day, that's just not how it works. Also, taking care of two dogs is double the work of taking care of one. Rats the amount of care is the same, there is hardly any more work required.

Rats are also very social animals, they need to learn from their own species, they keep warm together, eat together and they will most likely be spending all day together. Dogs and cats do get depressed or get separation anxiety if they are alone all day. That's why if someone isn't home all day, they are told to either not get a pet or to get more than one so they can keep each other company, so it is the same thing with dogs and cats.

I don't know anyone who only sees their dog one or two hours a day. A rat by itself needs at least 6 hours of interaction a day if not more (and it still isn't the same thing). There are very few people who can or want to provide that kind of attention, and even when they do sometimes the rats are unhappy.

If you are only going to get one rat, don't post it on here, you're just asking for people to get mad at you. Unless you are home ALL DAY you will not have enough time to spend with it and you are being cruel. Don't get a pet if you are not willing to care for it properly.

Most people have no problem with getting more than one rat, in fact they enjoy it. If you do not like or care for rats enough to get two when you know you should, you shouldn't be getting any at all. Getting two rats is 100% necessary and if you only get one that would be like you living in solitary confinement your whole life and not being able to see other people ever.

It isn't right.

All animals are different. Dogs find much more company in humans while rats do not. How do you think you would do if the only socail interaction you had was a daily visit from an "owner" thats not your species?

Not very well ide guess. Dogs are also with their people all the time theyre home so theyre not as lonely. Rats that arent with a friend get sick more often, are less tame and tend to bite.

Having 2 rats is no more expensive than 1 except for the original cost of the rat and a little more for food. EDIT- please don't get a pet if your not going to tend to its specific needs. Rats are socail animals and NEED a friend to live with, and if you find it unecesarry then you obviously havent done your homework on rats.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
